About us?

Introduction
Rotary was born with the vision of a man, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who founded the Rotary Club of Chicago on February 23, 1905.
Its purpose was to form a circle of professionals dedicated to various fields with a view to promoting the exchange of ideas and the forging of friendship ties.

Over time, Rotary's reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service. Our partners have a long history of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world.

Our permanent commitment
That commitment continues today thanks to a truly international organization. Just 16 years after its founding, Rotary had clubs on every continent. Our partners are present in every corner of the world and work to solve the world's most pressing problems.

We are not afraid to dream big and set ambitious goals. In 1979, we launched our campaign against polio with a project to vaccinate six million children in the Philippines. Today, polio is endemic in just three countries, up from 125 in 1988.

The Rotary Foundation

The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotary members to promote world understanding, peace, and goodwill through better health, support for education, and alleviate poverty.

The Foundation is a nonprofit organization that depends entirely on the voluntary contributions of Rotary members and friends of the Foundation who share its vision for a better world. Support to the Foundation is essential for the projects financed through its grants to achieve sustainable results in communities in need.

Polio eradication is Rotary's top humanitarian priority. Rotary launched the PolioPlus program in 1985. In 1988, when Rotary began collaborating with its partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, the disease claimed more than 350,000 victims in more than 125 countries. Since then, Rotary has vaccinated nearly 3 billion children and reduced the incidence of the disease by 99.9%.

Who does it affect?
If we don't eradicate polio, we could reach up to 200,000 new cases per year worldwide in the next 10 years.
Only two countries have reported cases of polio in recent years; however, until all children are vaccinated, none of them will be safe anywhere in the world.
Rotary International Presidency
“In order to live in the kind of society you want, you have to help build it.”

“Silver linings rise out of the most challenging circumstances. Using metric-driven goals, I will harness this historic landscape to innovate, educate, and communicate opportunities that reflect today’s reality.”
"To see Rotary continue to change and reflect the times, especially at this pivotal moment as we move out of the current global pandemic. The opportunities with which we have been presented recently will shape the direction we take over several years, and I to come, and I would relish the chance to lead during that period.

Rotary International must remember that it exists primarily to support its clubs and so, delivering our strategic priorities and objetives, thus strengthening clubs must be at the forefront of our minds."
